History -
Hungerford, Aldrin, Nichols & Carter, PC got its start in 1941, focusing on family owned and closely held businesses in West Michigan. The firm reorganized in 1986 with four Shareholders; Rick Hungerford, Cliff Aldrin, Jerry Nichols, and Dan Carter. The firm celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2011. Hungerford, Aldrin, Nichols & Carter continues to be a locally owned and controlled, full-service CPA firm, and moved to its current location of 2910 Lucerne Drive, SE in 1993.
As the firm has grown so has its level of specialization and expertise, driven by the addition of more Shareholders. Peggy Murphy joined the firm as a Shareholder in 1995, and Rick Chrisman was promoted to Shareholder in 1996. Phil Saurman added his experience in school and governmental services by joining the firm as a Shareholder in 1998. Also in 1998, the firm was granted membership into the prestigious Accountants Global Network, now AGN International, a worldwide group of independently owned CPA firms who share knowledge and resources with each other.
In 1999, Hungerford acquired SourcIT Technology Services. That same year, the firm was named a “Small Business of the Year” by the Greater Grand Rapids Chamber of Commerce. In 2001, the firm announced the promotion to Shareholder of Mitch Burgers, Carla Grant, and Tom Prince. In 2005, the firm acquired a Greenville CPA firm, formerly Nancy Forton CPA, moving it to a new location at 305 S. Lafayette St. in Greenville in 2006.
In 2007, Hungerford, Aldrin, Nichols & Carter, PC was honored for the first of multiple times by being named one of “West Michigan’s Best and Brightest Companies To Work For” by the Michigan Business and Professional Association.
