Murphy Recognized by Business Journal

Hungerford Shareholder Peggy Murphy has again been named to the Grand Rapids Business Journal's "50 Most Influential Women in West Michigan." The women will be celebrated at the Amway Grand Plaza Ambassador Ballroom on March 7. The keynote speaker at the event will be the daughter of former President Gerald and Betty Ford, Susan Ford Bales.

 

Firm Awards Annual GVSU Scholarship

We'd like to congratulate Jill Schutte, the winner of the 2011 Hungerford Accounting Scholarship. The $2,000 scholarship is given annually to a student in Grand Valley State's School of Accounting.

Jill is from Zeeland, and will graduate with a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Accounting next Spring. Her goal is to then pursue a Master of Science in Accounting, and she'd like to work for a public accounting firm. Jill works to pay her own tuition, and maintains a 4.0 GPA.

 

Carter Honored by GVSU

Hungerford Co-Managing Shareholder Dan Carter was recently presented with the prestigious Outstanding Alumni award as an Alumnus of the Year by Grand Valley State's Seidman College of Business. The ceremony was held March 25 at GVSU's Pew Grand Rapids Campus. In 2009, Carter was also recognized by GVSU's School of Accounting with the Accounting Hall of Fame Award. Dan is a 1984 graduate of Grand Valley State, and serves as President of the Seidman School of Accounting Advisory Board, and is taking an active role in fundraising efforts for the college's new Seidman Center.


In addition to his involvement and support of Grand Valley State, Carter also serves on the Advisory Committee for the Donald Maine School of Business at  Davenport University, as Board President for the Arts Council of Grand Rapids, as Board Treasurer for the Humanities Council of Greater Grand Rapids, on the Foundation Board  for Lutheran Social Services of Michigan, as Board Treasurer for Faith Lutheran Church, as Board Treasurer for Humanity for Africa, as a founding member of the Northview Education Foundation, and is on the Finance Committee for the Right Place, Inc.


As a Co-Managing Shareholder at Hungerford, Carter oversees the Construction and Real Estate practices as well as its technology services subsidiary, and the business advisory services division. Dan has paticipated as a founder, developer, and investor in several real estate projects and business start-ups, including a few technology companies and entities. He's been a CPA for over 30 years.


Hungerford Honored as ‘Best and Brightest' Winner

Hungerford, Aldrin, Nichols & Carter, PC has been named one of "West Michigan's 101 Best & Brightest Companies To Work For" for the fifth consecutive year by the Michigan Business & Professional Association. The award honors high standards in various categories as evaluated by an independent research firm. Among the areas Hungerford was recognized for was employee education and development, employee recognition and retention, work-life balance initiatives, and community initiatives. We appreciate the members of our team, who make Hungerford both a great place to work, and a great company to do business with.
